Yemen Blues

A super-group of top musicians from New York, Israel and Uruguay comprise this original and fascinating collaboration, in which traditional Yemenite melodies fuse with the world of blues, jazz and funk.

Yemen Blues was founded 2010 by Ravid Kahalani, a rising star in Israel who grew up in a traditional Yemenite family. He learned the language and the traditional chants of his origin, and then extended his influences in the areas of blues and West African soul.

He joined forces with Omer Avital, a well known bass player and composer from New York, and together they created Yemen Blues, attracting media and promoters with their impressive and intense showcases.

Yemen Blues concerts are an ultimate celebration of African grooves, the pure happiness and deep emotion of Yemenite singing, and an innovative sound – with a strong message.
